After a quick stop at the local CVS to pick up Holly’s new pain meds, we headed home together for the first time in five days. We knew there was going to be a little adjustment period, so we had the kids stay with family for a few more days.

With Holly not being permitted to climb stairs more than once a day, we set-up a sleeping spot on the couch downstairs for her. I think sleeping was the toughest thing…

I mentioned in Chapter 3 how I got a little misty-eyed after they wheeled Holly back to surgery. What I didn’t tell you was how the nurse walked in mid-stream. She came in and pulled the curtain back to see if I needed some food or a cup of coffee. I don’t think she expected to see a 6’8” grown man crying like a newborn baby who’s paci just fell out in the middle of the night.

I think it was more awkward…

Holly’s Cat Scan

It’s no secret that we live in a society that is fueled by instant gratification. We want it fast. We want it now. We want it yesterday.

I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that I’m that person. Patience is an area of my life I have yet to master. You’d think that a kid who grew up with dial-up internet service wouldn’t get so frustrated when a video takes more than 10 seconds to upload on Inst@gram.

You’d think that a father of four…

Chapter 2

If you haven’t read Chapter 1 of this journey, you can do so here.

As believers, we know that God is alive and active today. God’s promises are for us now and forever, not just for the people who lived during the old testament days. Those promises are found in the scriptures.

We read in 2 Corinthians 12:9:

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

In Jeremiah 30:17 we read:

“But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,” declares the LORD.

Philipians 4:19 says:

“And my God will meet all…

How Becoming a Victim Set Us Up for our Greatest Victory

Some of you reading this have been following along with the rollercoaster journey my wife, Holly, and I have been on the past few weeks. For those of you who are new to all the happenings, I’ll elaborate on things from the beginning to get you up to speed. For the rest of you, this may be mostly a recap, but I’ll fill in some of the details you may not have known.

My beautiful bride!

The week started like a typical week. Holly and I have been doing a detox program throughout 2020 and have seen amazing results in our physical, mental…

Over the past several months, I’ve been on a personal journey of change.

At the start of 2020, my wife and I prayed in the new year like we have in many years past. As we prayed, we felt the Lord telling us that 2020 was the year of opportunity for us. At the time, those opportunities hadn’t manifested, but we were believing God for the vision and promises.

One vision that had carried over from the end of 2019 was that we were both going to start and have successful blogs. …

Imagine having a perfectly constructed plan made for your life. You don’t know every detail or see every facet of the plan upfront, but you’re told by someone you completely trust that it is indeed a perfect plan. All you have to do is have the faith to walk it out.

You agree to this plan and you’re filled with excitement and enthusiasm and ready to begin your journey.

This is the easiest part of your journey. You’re full of faith. You have a positive mental attitude. You’ve got all your supplies and have completed all your preparation work. …

A lesson learned through a tragedy that rocked an entire community

I’ll never forget the phone call that I received on Christmas morning of 2004.

My mom handed me the receiver of the blue corded phone that hung on our kitchen wall.

“Andy, it’s for you,” I heard her say as I had just opened the last of my Christmas gifts.

There was silence on the other end.

“Hello?” I repeated.

“Andy…” the words slowly came out through a sobbing voice.

“Andy….Josh Worthington died in a car crash this morning.”

After collecting a few scrambled thoughts and grasping the reality of the news I had just received, tears flowed from…

Parts of the story that I’m about to tell you may seem a little far-fetched. While some of it may be hard to believe, I assure you that it is 100% accurate and not an exaggeration.

So sit back, put your seat belts on, and read about yet another testimony of God’s faithfulness that we’ve experienced in 2020.

It all started on a rainy Sunday afternoon. My wife and I decided to meet up with some friends of ours who live in Southern Ohio. …

We’ve all experienced pain and suffering in our lives. We often wonder why we’re experiencing what we’re going through. When we’re going through seasons of turmoil in our life, it’s easy to ask the question, ”Where is God?”

To address the question about God’s whereabouts during painful chapters, we first have to address the why.

If you’re like me and have tried to figure out why things are happening the way they are, you’ll realize you’re just spinning your wheels. Most of the time we won’t figure out the why until days, weeks, months, or even years later.

To get…
